Lance, GOD has a sense of humor….I realized it after I came back to the LORD years ago….I share this:
It was 1970’s, I was divorced, broken, hurting, mad at the world, etc…..all the emotions that go with that scenario. It was a Tuesday night; I went to bed and turned off the nightstand lamp….I heard: “Get up and go and put your BIBLE in your car.”….I am lying there and I think—Did I just hear that? I didn’t do anything…….I heard it again!.
I thought—I know I heard that…..I turned the lamp back on—got up/got my BIBLE out of my nightstand and went outside and put my BIBLE in the backseat of my car.
My mother calls me as soon as I get home from work and says: “Uncle Emory died today. The funeral is Saturday and we need to go.
(Uncle Emory was my grandfather’s baby brother. I knew him well and loved him.)
It was a graveside service in Albany, Georgia. Many people were there. He was loved….The preacher Did Not show up! His widow and the other people were “rattled.” THEN—I Remembered—my BIBLE is in my car in the backseat…..I spoke out to his widow and said: “Everyone just stand still, I will be right back.” I got my BIBLE—and I read several Scriptures—–Told some sweet stories about Uncle Emory and then I asked everyone to bow their heads for prayer……………….I Prayed——-and Thanked Everyone for coming—and the group “mingled” a little and left.
When my mother and I got in my car, she said: “That would have been terribly embarrasing if you had not been there and handled this awkward situation.” I told her about what happened on Tuesday night……She said: “The LORD knew this was going to happen and he prepared you……You need to repent and get right with the LORD…….HE will Use You in ways you can not even begin to know.”
GOD Loves Us even when we are disobedient children……..I did not get RIGHT for a season—-But I DID GET RIGHT—-AND I HAVE STAYED RIGHT WITH THE LORD EVER SINCE.
Lance, do you read the comments? The title of this podcast is “…and DeSantis”. I didn’t hear anything about DeSantis…did I miss something? Is there a part 2? I lived in central FL just a year and a half (2021-2022). I’m a senior. I talked with people occasionally in the stores and at the dog parks. No one I spoke with had a good word to say about DeSantis, which I thought was very interesting in light of having local support for a DeSantis campaign.
