The Tree of Life and the Season of God

Tree

The years of your life are like the rings of a tree. Cut down, you can see the history of the tree from year to year. The lean years of drought and the rich years of rainfall.

David understood this picture and wrote:

“And he shall be LIKE A TREE planted by the RIVERS OF WATER, that bringeth forth its FRUIT IN ITS SEASON; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he doeth shall prosper.”
Psalm 1:3

First, there is a condition to this promise. He described the man who meditates upon what God is saying… “day and night.”

Second, this perpetual meditation plants the roots by a spiritual river that never runs dry.

Third, in all of life there is a “season” for various fruit. It is vain to try to bring forth a fruit out of its timing. The best thing to do is to put roots downward and be patient. There is a time for war and a time for peace, a time to speak and a time to be silent.

Fourth, even in old age your leaf will not wither in weakness nor shall your spirit grow weary. Though the outward man ages, the inward man gets stronger.

Fifth, the promise is that whatever you do shall prosper. If it’s not the season of exploits, it is the season of intimacy. Line up with the season of God because the tree of Life in the book of Revelation brings forth fruit in every season. The fruit of harvest has its specific timing but the fruit of the Spirit, namely love, joy and peace is a year-round experience.

What season are you experiencing?

  1. I’m most definitely in the season of intimacy. I love this season and look forward to what God is drawing me to.
