  1. Of course, testimonies of healing from stem cell therapy will encourage many to get it themselves. But if you are going to promote this at a large conference, you will want to be prepared for many difficult questions and possibly criticisms. What if the demand for stem cell therapy for all kinds of health conditions far exceeds the supply? For instance, wealthy sport teams may compete for them to boost their performances. It seems that doctors have not yet embraced use of non-embryonic IPS stem cells because possible ill effects like growth of cancerous tumors have not been fully researched.
If the supply then is mainly from umbilical cords, won’t there be a shortage? Won’t there be a greater demand for aborted fetuses to supply the demand and lower the price? Won’t it be harder for immoral people to resist sacrificing fetuses, and even young children who have high percentages of stem cells? To take the bigger view, eventually we all must accept decline of health and death at some time. If concern for longer life outweighs concern for children, people will value them less in a world where children are already suffering from unprecedented neglect.
After scanning several sober articles raising red flags about the increasing rush to stem therapy, I’m less confident that we should speed down that road.
I hope you have good answers to these concerns before the conference begins.

  2. I’d like to add that I love your show, I rarely miss an episode, I greatly appreciate your insights, and this is the first time I’ve had such concerns about the content–stem cell therapy–which of course is well-meaning.
