How To Live In Community

Jesus saw His message of love and reconciliation as a word that should touch nations. He instructed His followers to teach the curriculum He taught them. Evidently the disciples did so because religious leaders complained to the Apostles “you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine.”

What did these early followers of Jesus do that so impacted their culture?

1. They continued to teach and practice Jesus’ core curriculum.

2. They lived as a community of genuine friends, built upon the practice of the presence of God made manifest in their lifestyle of fellowship, prayer, and mutual affection. They continued as a “band of brothers” and taught others to do likewise, meeting from house to house and in the Temple.

In my life and ministry, I seek to live out these principles exemplified through the lives of Jesus and His close followers. I know that I am called to bring the seven mountain message to the nations and continue to stand for truth in the midst of a culture crying out for meaning and purpose. Would you partner with us in this mission? If you would like to join us as we spread the Gospel around the world, here is the link to give: lancewallnau.com/jesusfollower. Thank you for your continued encouragement and support!

The first century followers of Jesus experienced and demonstrated extraordinary love, generosity, joy and powerful answers to prayer. This is what happens when the teachings of Jesus fill a city.

Any ideas for putting this to action in YOUR city? If you are already doing so, please share your examples to challenge others.

  1. I have a vision.
    1. A community of Christian artisans
    2. Small houses built in close proximity to others that follow the same architectural plan.
    3. A large central building that serves as a meeting hall, shop and retail store.

This vision, because of the burdensome state regulations where I live, will mandate a move cross- country. I am currently seeking God’s direction and finding my way.

  2. A good ‘harken’ for today. The gospel culture is counter culture; it brings light to the dark, salt to the bland searching…
Consider all your resources from God, our provider but move according to what He quickens your heart to do. Giving to a single parent home- paying a car repair, a month of rent…
Frequent appropriate calls to friends to encourage, laugh, listen deeply…
Has God made your home a ‘safe house’, a foster home, a place of simple gathering..
We have a weekly prayer meeting at our home – starting with 3 to 13. It has become a deep caring cell…
Value your job as your ministry also. Some day you will retire and have good cause to realign your time. Value the stage you are in.
Pay the price of ‘speaking appropriate gospel’. To some it will be words of life. To others, vinegar. Speak and live his values. It can be lonely but if you have that community, there’s comfort in like minds and hearts.
Support your Christian family in their endeavors- funds for youth camps, pro life endeavors, mission works…what they are sent to do, send them with backing of heart and need.
Nothing little is ever really little; it is one light in the darkness of this warring time. Faithful in little, perhaps, next a bond fire.
Just live & move and have your daily being in an intimate relationship with Jesus, our brother and King
