John Adams wanted Independence Day to be a festival of thanks to God for the formation of the nation.
Adams had written to his wife Abigail:
“The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.” Bet you don't hear that quoted a lot.
Did you catch the first line? He wrote that we actually declared our independence from Britain in Philadelphia on July 2! It was done and official on the 2nd. but some of the guys didn't sign till the 4th so the headlines picked up momentum two days later.
Here's an interesting if not strange fact, three of America's first five presidents died on July 4.
Bitter rivals John Adams, the second president, and Thomas Jefferson, the third, died hours apart on July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the Declaration. Adams was 90 and passed away in Massachusetts and Jefferson was 83 and died in Virginia.
The fifth president, James Monroe, died on the Fourth in 1831.
The BIG thought being that we all forget what a near miracle it was for a fledgling string of colonies, with citizen soldiers to take on the same British armies that beat Napoleon and defeated them.
America is an experiment in mans ability to govern himself based on shared values that sustain a population in voluntary submission to elected officials. Without a stronger moral consensus based on shared values in our country, we will see days of anarchy in the future when “independence” from God plants anarchy in the hearts of the decedents of liberty.
It will be prayer, fasting & worship for our nation that breaks the chains of the conglomeration-oligarchy we have since Eisenhower left Office. Everyone who works in the D.C. area or remotely / on assignment need a couple of revival-reawakening-reformation “resets,”… 1) Jesus resuscitation historically happened (“we have the data,” Gary Habermas) and western academics have been acknowledging it. 2) Recommitment & Rededication to the U.S. Constitution as-written, and as the master-Rubric– you cannot budge it and if anyone’s sloppy with the flow & function of power it lays out will be opening doors of abuse and barbarism seen in Nazi death camps, modern day pimping, as well as modern day involuntary human organ harvesting, some of this is in our nation, some is in the news from overseas, #EnesKanterFreedom.
If persons in the U.S. wish to prove Acts 2:44-45 communal living can be done, I would just ask >that they demonstrate it somewhere, with some group of people, 100% open-source< and not foist their imaginary agnostic Orwellian nightmare upon us _before_they've worked out the issues!
It will take prayer, open outreach, and discipleship training outside of D.C. for all of those apparently illegal ballot box stuffing in Pennsylvania, Arizona #81millionvotes-mykaboos!, Michigan, etc., vote counting, etc. The administration of deception has gotten thick. It will take loving outreach like Amy Carmichael in India to reach the broken children in American streets, It will take prayerful intercession to turn the keys of power for Heaven's portals to reopen what darkness tried to slime shut; it will take Founding Fathers & Mothers of 1776 alive today – our audacity – to be willing to lose everything for Father YHWH paradigm shift to upscale into the Last Days gold glory harvest. Thank God's it's already started! Father's yeast is positively working through the dough, Praise Him!
