It made me stop and think about all of the—I guess you would say—the idols of my generation. The 1960’s and the 1970’s forward threw so many things at US!
Each time one of the singers of that generation dies, it brings back memories of those young years and their songs—and all that were a part of that time in history. Olivia Newton John died today, and I loved her music, and her playing in the movie GREASE…..that was my generation. So I am dealing with tonight the emotions of it all and trying to process it and move forward. I loved hearing her sing: HAVE YOU EVER BEEN MELLOW……I sure have—-and I am right now in the midst of her passing.
I have come such a long way, but those young years and those memories and the music, I guess, will always be with me……My mother loved the movie stars of her generation—and the music that she and Daddy danced to. She played the old music as long as she lived—and would tell Jennifer and me about the special memories that always remained a part of her life.
I don’t want these people and their music and memories to be idols to me….I hope they aren’t……I don’t try to hide anything from JESUS. HE comes first.
