I’ve been listening for a while now and it’s a good show. On this episode, yall were talking about stocking up on ammo for multiple uses, basically in the event of a societal collapse. There were a couple of things said about it that weren’t quite right. Yes we should have a good supply of ammo on hand but it would be specifically for defense and absolutely nothing else, it would be to precious of a commodity for anything else since there won’t be any manufacturing of ammunition in that situation. Several cases of hard liquor would be a better item to have on hand for trading. Nobody who has ammo on hand is going to trade it away. As far as using the ammo for hunting-thats not a good idea either. I am an avid outdoorsman, indeed my outdoor pursuits are my greatest passion. All wildlife species are indicator species for how WE are doing as a society. Historically, if you look at countries that have suffered societal collapse, their wildlife is the first thing to disappear. Without an adequate managment system in place, wildlife suffers immediately. Relying on wildgame for sustenance in such an event is not a good plan, and those are skills that would need to be already developed to be successful if it were. That being said, the north american system of wildlife management has proven to be the best in the world. Because of that, our wildlife might last a little longer in a societal collapse. For as long as it lasts, yes you can hunt, but you would use a bow and arrow and trapping rather than using a firearm because 1. The ammo is too precious and needed for defense and 2. Because the report of a firearm would likely bring unwanted attention to you and your family in a way that you’ll actually need to defend yourselves.
