Boundaries are a tricky business. Fail to police your thoughts, business, or family and a serpent can work its way into any Eden. Set up needlessly rigid boundaries and you mislabel every unfamiliar idea, innovation, and potential ally as a serpent.

Radical thinker Ivan Illich was once asked about the most certain way to change society: violent revolution or gradual reform? Carefully he answered – “neither.” To change society he said, you need to tell an alternative story. What does that mean? A “story” is the shared understanding of a community about the history of an idea. It's the set of core beliefs that maintains the coherence of the culture.
WHAT'S UP WITH VLADIMIR?
Putin has taken over Russian media to the extent that he has rewritten his identity and the Russian identity into the mind of a population that 4 years ago was chafing at his rule. Not too long ago the public was fed up with his outright manipulation of public office and inability to let go… (President – Prime Minister – President again.) Now they are heralding a Russian revival that looks eerily like film footage of National Socialists shouting undying loyalty to Hitler. Putin's agents have literally killed, run off, or broken the fingers of journalists who wrote the truth about what goes on in his government.
The American story has changed. Secular gatekeepers on the extreme left have so dominated the Universities, airwaves, and media outlets of the United States that a new “story” about America has been bought and sold, a story that vilifies the nation, its Fathers, and its contribution to the world.
This happens at the same time China and Russia are vying for control of the internet. Read the news and notice how excess in American spy surveillance has played into a “story” that the internet would be better in Putin's or the Communist Party's hands. I am pinching myself to see if this is real or an Orwellian nightmare.
MARK MY WORDS…
Mark my words – the biggest battles Christians are going to face will be End Times MIND CONTROL through manipulated media linked to Political Pulpits.
It requires the discipline of a renewed mind to discern and “cast down” false reasonings and “stories” pumped out by manipulated media outlets. And it requires the mind of Christ to come up with ways to maintain and reinforce a healthy national “story” and narrative. We can't continue to let the church and Christianity be defined by its enemies. We have to retell the greatest story ever told, in bold, new and fresh ways.
