Favor is always specific and not generic. Biblical favor is the attraction of God to you that releases influence through you so that other people are inclined to like, trust, or cooperate with you—in the assignment God gave you!
Right now we are celebrating the season of Purim, which is when God gave supernatural favor to Esther, a young Jewish woman. He promoted her into a position of influence to save the Jewish people, her nation. It was Esther's supernatural favor that led to the Jewish people being granted permission to defend themselves and defeat their enemy.
That same supernatural favor is promoting God’s people today, and it's time for you to carry this favor factor into your own world where divine appointments do more in a moment than clever marketing and P.R. can do in a lifetime.

There is one preacher whom I have heard preaching on this too, but he always starts with Vashti and this part irritates me somewhat. Maybe due to his African culture…through which he would like to teach women to submit top their husbands, but he always first starts with Vashti to say that she refused to submit and give honor and therefore she last her favor. Now I question whether we can say that God didn’t see her heart in the situation in which she found herself. He goes further to say that because Esther honoured the King she got favor. He even compares the King with the Holy Spirit. But if I consider Vashti, she too I believe, knew how a queen should behave and she knew that the men were perhaps not in a sober state and so refused to be humiliated. Or is this an “emancipated” view because of how modern women are thinking. Should she have submitted or can one give her credit for standing up to what was right in her own eyes? I mean they could have forced her into the Kings presence, but they left her to her own choice from which she reaped the consequences, although the King did think about her again later. So when I listen to that preachers analysis it almost sounds like…the book of Esther only happened because of Vashi’s mistake. But I would rather like to think, that God used this convenient gap to help Israel. Yet the book of Esther did not happen because of Vashti. Even if Israel had not been in danger, the vacuum of Vashti would have had to be filled. Rather…God used the gap like a clever chess move for the salvation for Israel. Could you help me on this one. It is because …although this story has a completely different aim, I nevertheless find it unfair to say that Vashti didn’t in her own right, also did a noble thing.
I forgot to mention also, that there was one other in the story who also didn’t submit to authority and that is Mordecai and so in comparison he too obtained favor. He refused to submit to the “wrong” person but he obtained favor when he was still hidden from public view.
The favour of God was put upon the Jewish people for the assignment of welcoming and accepting the Messiah. For 2,000 long years God raised up the Israelite people to do what? Welcome Jesus.They didn’t do that, therefore they lost God’s favour and were cursed and judged subsequently, and God gave His favour to another people as explained in Mt 21 ‘The Parable of the Tenants’.
Mt 21:33 “Hear another parable. There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge around it, and dug a wine press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to tenants, and went into another country. 34 When the season of fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants, to get his fruit; 35 and the tenants took his servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. 36 Again he sent other servants, more than the first; and they did the same to them. 37 Afterward he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 38 But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, ‘This is the heir; come, let us kill him and have his inheritance.’ 39 And they took him and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. 40 When therefore the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?” 41 They said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable death, and let out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him the fruits in their seasons.”
42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the scriptures: ‘The very stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner; this was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes’?
43 Therefore I tell you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a nation producing the fruits of it.”
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them. 46 But when they tried to arrest him, they feared the multitudes, because they held him to be a prophet”.
Today’s Christians stands in the same position as the Jewish people of 2,000 years ago. This time to welcome the Second Coming of Christ. Christians today also have an unrealistic expectation of Christ’s Second Coming as did the Jewish people. They too were waiting for their Messiah to come on the clouds as Daniel prophesied and also for Elijah to return having been taken up into heaven on a chariot of fire.
Jesus didn’t come on the clouds, Elijah himself did not return, nor on a chariot of fire. As Jesus explained, John the Baptist was the returning Elijah, Mt 11:14, Mt 17:10-13 coming in the spirit and with the same mission as Elijah, to prepare the people to receive the Lord.
All these individuals were born on earth, Jesus, John, and Elijah. No one came in a supernatural way. Similarly Christ’s return will follow the same natural laws of physical reality through being born on earth. Please note:
Rev 5:12 “And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to bear a child, that he might devour her child when she brought it forth; 5 ‘she brought forth a male child’, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne”.
Christ will be born on the earth as Jesus previously was.
Acts 1:11 “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
How did Jesus go into Heaven? First he was born on earth, grew up, took on his mission and then he dies. That is why they were being lightly rebuked, “Why do you look into Heaven?” Because he is not returning on the clouds or coming out of the sky. He will be born on earth.
This will be today’s Christians’ real challenge, as it was for the Jewish people awaiting also their Messiah to come on the clouds as Daniel prophesied:
Daniel 7:13 “I saw in the night visions, and behold, with the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man, and he came to the Ancient of Days and was presented before him”.
Jesus was born on the earth, as so will the Lord of the Second Advent, creating a big problem for Christians to be able to recognise him, as in the historical precedent I’ve explained to you.
That is also why scripture states:
Luke 17:24 “For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of man be in his day. 25 But first he must ‘suffer many things and be rejected’ by this generation. 26 As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of man”.
How could Christ suffer anything, and be rejected if he comes in all his glory on the clouds, unless he is born on earth and therefore is not recognised and accepted by Christians, because he didn’t come on the clouds? Which means it will be Christians who reject him and cause him to suffer. Christians will persecute Christ at his Second Coming.
Rev 1:7 “Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, every one who pierced (persecutes) him; and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him”.
What are clouds? Purified water having left their impurities behind, therefore those people who have purified themselves, ‘washed their robes’ in order to receive him and follow him.
Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so ‘great a cloud of witnesses’, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us”.
To have and keep God’s favour we must keep His commandments, understand His revelation, and obey His voice as Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Jesus and the prophets did, at the risk of their lives. Accomplishing God’s Will requires faith and being prepared to ‘lose your life’ for God’s Will in order to ‘gain your life’. That means being prepared to go against the status quo and the establishment as Jesus’ disciples did.
That is why it also says in scripture:
Luke 18: 8 “I tell you, he will vindicate them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of man comes, will he find ‘faith’ on earth?”
The faith to recognise him, when he doesn’t come on literal clouds.
These are important points to pray about.
