You've Got a Friend in Him!

Friend“A friend loves at all times” (Proverbs 17:17)

I was about 17 when I first prayed. I had an experience with God that moved me profoundly. I spoke out loud “who are you?” I flipped open a New Testament that my Mother put in my room a week earlier for no known reason.

My eye fell upon this verse: Acts 7:49
“Heaven is my throne, and Earth is my footstool; what house will ye build me? saith the Lord, or what is the place of my rest?”

I've spent 40 years sorting out what that word actually means and how to apply it.

One thing I do know … after I saw the verse I reached over to the radio and flipped it on. The song that came on was “You've Got A Friend” by James Taylor.

The verse may have been a mystery but the song was clear.

Should any of you be going through a rough patch of life, know that your worst day and your worst behavior will not separate you from the friendship of Jesus. There is nothing you can do or fail to do that will change your relationship to the love of God. Refuse to give up on yourself because God has not given up on you. Nor is He ever surprised.

The promise of the Lord is true today as it was in the days of old – as long as King Uzziah sought the Lord, “God made him to prosper.” (2 Chron 26:5)

Get up, dust yourself off and do not quit.

You've got a friend that loves you at all times.

That's a promise you can bank on.

  1. Where would we all be without the Truth of that verse and your comments. We cannot bank on much; glad this “Bank” does not have an FDIC limit!! Thanks for sharing!
